Rebels seems to continue to be both a bridge and an olive branch. Bringing into the continuing story both characters from the Clone Wars series and a chosen few from Legends, such as Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Further the show also finds away to integrate even the original conceptual art for A New Hope, for example one of the main crew members, Zeb Orrelios, is based upon one of the earliest conceptual sketches for Chewbacca.
It's funny how Disney has managed to do what so many franchise fail to do, namely respect the heart of what made the core fans so loyal, while still allowing the writers freedom and attracting new fans as well.
This season is top notch Star Wars. It's everything good about the last three seasons and more. It's the type of thing I can sit down to watch with my preteen sister and middle aged father and all three of us love it equally, as Star Wars should be.
The last couple of episodes that have come out have been on par with the magic of the Star Wars movies in so many ways. I'm going to bawl when it's over.
Far outgrowing it's initial Aladdin-esque roots, this is the best season of the show And sadly yet fittingly the last. The length of the season and quality of these epidoses make for very memorable episodes.
Not quite up to Clone Wars last season material, but its tough to compete with that. Looking forward to the next animated SW installment by Hidalgo and Filoni.
A good finish to the series--though the events of the fourth season felt a bit rushed, time-wise, compared to the other seasons. I can understand the plot speeding up as the show approaches the timeline of the original movie trilogy, but I think it would still have been nice to have a bit more development before everything went into crisis-mode.
But the character beats were all well thought out, and the way everyone came together in the end was very satisfying. I have loved every minute of this series.
While the final episodes for the most part were amazing, the ending left me feeling very much conflicted. There is subtle deus ex machine, and then I literally cannot say anything else without totally blowing it.
Aside from what I described about the ending, the series has been an absolute pleasure. If Disney continues to treat Star Wars like it did Rebels, we will certainly have a lot to look forward to in the future.
After what I just witnessed, I absolutely cannot wait for my copy of Thrawn Alliances!!!! Great series. Our son loves it and can't wait for each episode to come out.
Love the series. This is Feb. The show manages to bring in good character development, the tragedies of war at least almost as well as a kids show can , and delve into the mystical side of the Force.
This season had some spectacular high points and gives me hope for the next Star Wars animated series.

As the seasons have progressed though, the themes have got darker, the stories more emotive and the characters have evolved into something truly beautiful.
I very much doubt that when Lucas Film released Rebels, they were aiming it at the adult viewer, yet for many episodes of this final season, I forgot that I was watching a kids show.
The emotional content of the show was hugely powerful and I am not ashamed to admit to tears every now and again.
The final episode was utterly beautiful, the story telling was perfect and there is the scope for them to come back to the story at some point in the future.
This show has everything that we loved about the original Star Wars, but with more heart and soul added in.
With themes of personal sacrifice for the good of others and the benefits of democracy, this is a show for all ages and one that will give a deeper understanding as the viewer reaches adulthood.
Well recommended. Wer hier 5 Sterne vergibt: Geschmackssache.
Translate review to English. In the fourth and final season of this excellent animated Star Wars series we see the heroes Ezra, Sabine and Kanan joining the Rebels on the familiar planet Yavin 4.
While inquiring about a secret, mysterious Imperial weapon at Lothal they run into my old favourite Imperial villain Grand Admiral Thrawn!
And to their excitement there were also plenty of Mandalorians. The episode season is tremendous, and quite entertaining.
Everything was pulled out leading to a spectacular finale. The last few episodes gradually wrap up all the different character arcs and manage tie off the remaining loose ends.
However they also start to form the bridge with the wider Star Wars saga in a sense that Rebels shows you the early stages of the rebellion and how that ties into Rogue One.
If you haven't seen Star Wars Rebels, you should of course start with Season 1. Even more than the Clone Wars animated series it benefits from solid, creative storylines and impressive graphics and animation.
Shame the series came to an end but it arguably did so on a high. And this bodes very well for future Star Wars animated series.
Like all Star wars material we bought the series in Blu-Ray format that looks very sharp and crisp. There are some fairly useless "Rebels Recon" episode recaps, from YouTube.
But the commentaries with producer Filoni on six episodes are interesting. Imperial Supercommandos. The rebels return to Concord Dawn with Fenn Rau. Iron Squadron.
The rebels assist a young hotshot pilot and his crew. The Wynkahthu Job. The rebels salvage a freighter full of weapons.
An Inside Man. Kanan and Ezra infiltrate an Imperial factory. Visions and Voices. Ezra engages in a ritual to sever his ties to Maul. Ghosts of Geonosis: Part 1.
The crew goes to Geonosis in search of missing rebels. Ghosts of Geonosis: Part 2. The rebels make another discovery on Geonosis.
Zeb brings a mysterious droid back to the rebel base. Trials of the Darksaber. Sabine learns to use an ancient Mandalorian weapon. Legacy of Mandalore.
Sabine returns home to enlist the aid of her family. Through Imperial Eyes. The rebels work to extract a spy before he is caught.
Secret Cargo. The Ghost crew helps to transport a rebel leader. Double Agent Droid. Chopper and AP-5 attempt to steal Imperial codes.
Twin Suns. Ezra warns an ally of an impending threat. Zero Hour: Part 1. The Empire discovers the location of the rebel base.
Zero Hour: Part 2. The rebel base is under siege as Ezra seeks out help. Customers who watched this item also watched. Try Explorer now.

This episode was great in so many ways. We got to see Thrawn deliver a huge defeat to the rebels, and be the Grand Admiral that fans of Heir to the Empire have wanted to see in this series.
The space battle gave me goosebumps, and truly felt cinematic. Love seeing Hera's leadership and tenderness. I really have missed Sabine since she reunited with her family of Mandalores.
As to the season itself, I have enjoyed it, other than the filler episodes. The prior episode with Kenobi and Maul is a favorite of the entire series.
Many people here are criticizing Amazon for the timing of the episode releases which is a little frustrating, but I have gotten used to it. However, my issue is that when I purchase the episodes individually to avoid seeing the filters when I binge, Amazon does not offer me a reduced price should I want to buy the entire season, such as when I buy digital songs individually and get a reduced price on the album.
Anyway, I am glad that I can get my episodes on Amazon and am looking forward to season 4 of Rebels as it approaches the SW Rogue one timeline!
Amazing series, and season 3 has yet to dissappoint! My wife and I look forward to the new episodes every weekend. And we're both giddy to see Thrawn Wicked fun series.
Seeing Grand Admiral Thrawn in action is something I've waited a long time to see. Love watching how the characters interact and change over time.
I hope this continues for several more seasons. When I heard the voice for Obi Wan I stopped dead in m y tracks. The voice was flawless, and the face an instantly recognizable likeness.
Seeing Obi Wan again in a familiar place was an uplifting experience for me. I have enjoyed these tales since the very 1st movie was released in ' This series really does the original stories justice, and seeing how things move toward the future has been a wonderful experience.
I hope they are able to continue in this vein for many, many years. When the timeline for Rebels closes, something like Han Solo, or Boba Fett would be a grand adventure to explore like this as well.
I'm very glad Amazon has bundled all the episodes together for Season 3.

I'm very glad Amazon has bundled all the episodes together for Season 3. The introduction of the Bendu has been a long time coming. It was the original term for the Jedi before Lucas called them Knights.
I had expected they were the progenitors of the Jedi and the Sith prior to the formation of the Knights 30, years before A New Hope, during a time of Galactic strife and human expansion throughout the Galaxy.
Balanced Force wielders that honestly used the Force strictly for knowledge and defense. The Knights became a more aggressive spin-off. I'm excited to see where Disney takes them and if my expectations prove true!
Ezra's looking more and more Snokey every day. This series is as good as the movies and with season 3 it keeps getting better. Maybe its because with a TV series you spend a bit more time with each character as they go from adventure to adventure but these season finales are packed with depth and drama that was somewhat lacking in the prequel films and even episode 7.
In this season 3 finale I really was hoping certain characters would stay alive and was truly sad with the ones who didn't make it out. Season 3 even added more depth to old man Maul character that showed up in the fantastic finale of season 2.
The climatic reunion between him and Obi-Wan was both appropriate and poignant.
