The Brazil Job - Olympic Athletes pull off the ultimate heist

A perfect read for the summer holidays, one which I would definitely recommend! Thanks to the TBC reading group on Facebook and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

When I first started this book I thought it was going to be a typical chick lit with an obvious ending but this was actually more about the relationship between the 2 sisters - Rebecca and Jennifer.

There is much to appreciate with some humour, relationship issues and romance but I felt that we only get to know the sisters with the other cast being slightly 2 dimensi Thanks to the TBC reading group on Facebook and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

There is much to appreciate with some humour, relationship issues and romance but I felt that we only get to know the sisters with the other cast being slightly 2 dimensional.

Rebecca Becs has left home in New Zealand to forge a new life with 'annoying and sometimes hard to believe they are friends' Melissa in Dublin, Ireland.

Jennifer has the ideal life back home with successful husband, 2 adorable children and a great Cookery school business.

The extra dimension of the search for romance contrasting with finding direction in your life adds an extra dimension that asks quite an important question in this light, frothy story and, if you are prepared to accept all that is fitted in to the 2 weeks and some remarkably flexible work situations, I am intrigued to find out if the author writes more challenging reads.

It doesn't quite make the highest star rating, probably it is more 3. If you are the youngest child and have an older sister -- you will laugh too!

The Good This book was real. The way the sister was perfect and had a letter prepared with times to feed the kids etc. So, so realistic! I didn't like Ciaran, and his emails were amusing but The Bad After an explosive start that got me hooked, I got greedy for more!

Even though I enjoyed the book, the pace went up and down. I think this was more a book on family and sisters.

The love interest - be it interesting - was not at the forefront of the story. The Ugly Unmarried younger sister and perfect older sister on the rocks with her hubby When the child swore, I really did laugh out loud!!

I read this as part of a blog tour. Lovely easy read, I found myself laughing out loud on quite a few occasions.

You have a story mainly centered around two sisters lives and their rivalry. Rebecca's single and has a carefree lifestyle.

Jennifer is married with two children and owns and internationally renowned cooking school. They are polar opposites, each has their own opinion of the other - however the grass isn't always greener on the other side, as secrets come to the fore.

Perfect holiday read! Many thanks to author Michelle Vernal for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a honest and unbiased review, and to THE Book Club Facebook for sending me the copy.

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book from TBC on Facebook in exchange for an hoest review. Having previously read The Travellers Daughter by the same author I wasn't sure what I was expecting but it was a totally different read.

I did find some of the plot irritating, why would you remain friends with someone as selfish as Melissa? I'm torn because it is really a 3.

It didnt quite get to 4 stars, partly because it was a bit frothy, the characters were a bit under-developed and I couldn't warm to them particularly.

However, it was well written and there were some lovely descriptions of a beautiful part of the world. An easy read, that I probably would have given 4 stars to if I'd been lying on a beach with a cocktail in hand having suffered a Brazilian job myself!

A really easy read but without the inevitability of some books of this kind. Well drawn characters and amusing episodes which made me laugh out loud.

Jul 02, B. Just brilliant. THAT is how I feel about this book. Wonderful, enjoyable read by Michelle Vernal that I finished in one sitting!!!

I felt drawn to Rebecca from the very first pages of the book. Yes, it opens after a hard night of drinking and fun, but something about her personality drew me in!

Her family has always favored her older sister, Jennifer. This one decision may just be the one that heals the rift between the sisters and puts her life on the course she was supposed to take.

Both sisters somehow lost sight of one another, and this time together will open their eyes. Long held ideas they held about one another are broken, and they are trying to find their way to being not only sisters but friends.

These two have some unfinished business between them, and the time apart will force them to move on either with or without one another.

The main story was about two sisters finding their way back to one another! Great, great read!!!! Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Blog I did not like this book.

The characters were shallow and honestly I have rarely read a main character that I immediately disliked the way I disliked Becca.

Well, she had no successes so far drifting through the world without a real good job and without a care thinking it would be easier to just get a man and yeah.

The only positive thing was that she immediately packed everything up to help her sister with the kids while her sister tried to salvage the rest of her marriage.

That was the right thing to do, but also completely unresponsible. There was just too much of everything and in my opinion the book could have been cut in half without all these filler scenes that did not push the plot forward.

Rebecca has always known that compared to her perfect sister Jennifer, her life is pretty much a mess. Escaping to the other side of the world Rebecca has a decent job, good friends, and a huge crush on her boss but never feels fully satisfied with her life.

When Jennifer rings her in desperate need of her help, Rebecca knows that she will do it even though it means moving back to New Zealand.

But it isn't long before Rebecca realises that nobody's life is perfect and everyone has cracks in their story, and as Rebecca starts to take chances will she find her own happiness when she least expects it?

While I wasn't always connected to Rebecca I still enjoyed her story and found this book to be an undemanding read to while away an afternoon.

Rebecca has a great job with a good looking boss, she likes to also party and drink but this has now landed her in trouble. It was a great read that if your looking for a book to read on a weekend when you have nothing planned then the book is for you.

It has romance, humour and drama which will keep your gripped to the last page. This was a light read with loads of laugh out loud and ROFL moments!

Rebecca is extremely likeable as the sibling overshadowed by the perfect older sister, who cannot get anything right and so moves from her home in New Zealand to Dublin on the other side of the world.

Just as she despairs about her life over there, her sister needs her to go back and look after her children and cooking school while she gives her floundering marriage another shot.

It was a humourous easy read which gives us an insight into the sisters relationship with each other and with that of their friends and family.

Thank you to the author and TBC for a copy of this book. The book covers mainly the story of Rebecca and her relationship with her sister Jennifer, her best friend Melissa and 2 love interests.

It was an easy read but I found the characters lacking in depth. Having lived in New Zealand I did enjoy the references to Akaroa and things kiwi.

A good holiday read. A great story about family and misconceptions. I enjoyed getting to know the two sisters and to find out more about how their relationship had become as competitive as it was.

The turnaround was an inspiration and the plot flowed really well as each of the sisters faced completely different challenges. The characters were engaging and I sat and enjoyed reading this story in one sitting.

The heist is successful, but as they drive towards Austria with the bullion, they are stopped by men loyal to Steve, who had turned on them and takes the bullion for himself.

Steve kills John when he admonishes him, and Rob drives the van over a bridge into the waters below to protect the others, using air tanks from the heist to stay alive.

Steve leaves them for dead. A year later in the United States , Charlie learns that Steve has resurfaced under a new identity and is laundering the gold through a Ukrainian jeweler named Yevhen to finance his lavish lifestyle in Los Angeles.

Charlie gathers the team, and also recruits John's daughter Stella, a skilled private safe cracker, offering her the chance to get revenge on Steve for her father's death.

They stake out Steve's mansion, and Stella, disguising herself as a cable technician, is able to map out its interior, allowing them to determine the location of Steve's safe containing the bullion.

Coincidentally, Steve, unaware of Stella's identity, offers to go out on a date with her. Charlie and Stella devise a plan using explosives to blow the safe while Steve is away on his supposed date, using three heavily modified Mini Coopers to transport the gold out of the mansion.

Charlie enlists the help of supplier Skinny Pete for the explosives and mechanic Wrench to make the modifications on the cars. During one of Steve's visits to Yevhen, Yevhen accidentally reveals that he knows about the Venice heist.

Steve kills Yevhen to cover his tracks. This infuriates Mashkov, Yevhen's cousin and a leader of a Ukrainian crime family.

Mashkov traces the information about the gold back to Skinny Pete via Yevhen's ex-employee Vance. The group embark on the night of the planned heist but discover that Steve's neighbors are having a party.

As the explosives would draw attention, they cancel their plan. Stella ends up having to meet Steve and inadvertently gives away her identity by using similar phrases to her father.

When the team arrives to help protect her, Steve taunts them, saying that he still has the upper hand. Uneased by this however, Steve makes plans to transport the gold to Mexico City by a private plane from Los Angeles International Airport after transporting it there in an armored car.

Napster hears of this through his tap on Steve's phone, and Charlie and his gang make a new plan to steal the gold en route to the airport by hijacking the city's traffic control system to force the armored car to a planned spot where they will execute the heist.

On the day of transport, they are surprised when three armored trucks leave Steve's mansion, but Napster is able to determine which one carries the bullion, and manipulates the traffic accordingly.

Knowing that Steve is monitoring the transport by helicopter, they get the car to the target spot and then create a diversion as they detonate explosives to drop the part of the road with the car into the old subway tunnels below.

After opening the truck, they find a different safe to the one that held the gold before. Although she struggles initially, Stella cracks the safe, and they load up the Coopers with the gold.

They race from the subway to the Los Angeles River and through the city, pursued by Steve's henchmen on motorcycles, with Napster creating a green wave to evade traffic.

Charlie disables Steve's helicopter by damaging its tail rotor with his car. Steve steals a Ford Bronco in anger to follow him to Union Station.

At Union Station, the cars are loaded onto a train car with the help of Wrench. Steve arrives shortly thereafter and bribes Wrench to let him in, but is surprised to find Charlie and the others waiting.

He brandishes a gun and demands his gold back, but Mashkov arrives with some armed men and disarms him. Charlie explains that he has offered Mashkov part of the gold and Steve in exchange for helping with security protection it is implied that Skinny Pete put him in touch.

Stella punches Steve is in the face. He is then taken away by Mashkov, who implies that he will be tortured for killing Yevhen. The group boards the train as it departs to New Orleans, and celebrate in John's honor.

The epilogue shows them all having used their share of the gold for their own desired purposes; Handsome Rob purchases an Aston Martin Vanquish , getting pulled over by a beautiful policewoman, Left Ear buys a mansion in southern Spain with a room for his shoe collection, while Napster buys a powerful stereo capable of blowing a woman's clothes off.

Meanwhile, Charlie takes John's advice about finding someone he wants to spend the rest of his life with, and he and Stella travel to Venice together.

The pace was great and I read the story sat in the sun one afternoon. The relationship between Jennifer and Rebecca was great - it was written like a genuine relationship and that made the story a lot more enjoyable for me.

This book is all about recapturing the bond and the love between sisters before the rest of world intruded them.

My first book by author Michelle Vernal, I liked the characterisation of both the sisters, they are same but so very different too. She comes home with her friend to take care of kids and cooking school so that her sister can make a go of her marriage.

It is fun to see her bumbling her way through it all, then slowly getting to enjoy the life, it is fun to see how the kids get their way with her. Jennifer, on the other hand, is going through her own problems with her husband and is often brash and mean.

She comes back from her 2 week vacation without husband and seems to be in a turmoil most of the times. It takes her time to open up to Rebecca.

The story moves to build up relationship between sisters. The parts where the two sisters reconnect are fun to read.

And they do make the title seem apt. There is romance and confusion, secrets and lies. Overall a quick, enjoyable read.

Rebecca looking after two children is definitely something that made me snigger and shake my head. The story is quite an addictive read as I got to know Rebecca, she has a good job with a gorgeous boss.

She does like to party and drink, and that has landed her in the odd hot spot. Jennifer who comes across as the in control of everything sister, does not quite fit the image she portrays.

As the two get to catch up you begin to see how they are with each other, not the closest of sisters with their battles and arguments, but behind all of that they are there for each other when needed.

This is a great read that explores the dynamics between Rebecca and Jennifer, it has some wonderful descriptions and I did get wrapped up with their story.
