These forests are responsible for maintaining the balance in the atmosphere as well as provide good rainfall to the world. But because of deforestation, the balance is disturbed causing excess rains in some regions while drought in other regions.
It also causes damage to the quality of the land. The rise in deforestation is making it extremely difficult to replant a new ecosystem. If the current rate of deforestation continues, it will take less than years to destroy all the rain forests on the earth.
Every year our summers are getting hotter and hotter. The temperature of the earth is rising at nearly twice the rate it was 50 years ago.
Who is to be blamed? We, humans, have polluted our air leading to an increase in CO2 gas. As a result of excess pollution, there is a hole in the ozone layer.
Global warming is mostly a problem of too much carbon dioxide CO2 in the atmosphere—which acts as a blanket, trapping heat and warming the planet.
This has further led to the melting of ice in the Polar Regions and other icy regions and increasing the water levels. We have been dumping our waste into these water bodies for years.
Some of these wastes are non-degradable and affect marine biodiversity. Some religious faith and social practices or traditions also add to the pollution of our river waters.
Plastic bags and bottles are thrown into the water bodies. These plastics are further consumed by marine animals affecting their health.
Oil spills and leakages are further polluting our oceans and seas. Many fishes are killed because of water pollution. Chemical waste from industries is let out into lakes and rivers making the water unfit for consumption.
According to reports, the total wastewater generated from all major industrial sources is 83, MId which includes 66, Mid of cooling water generated from thermal power plants.
Moreover, untreated sewage is let out into water bodies polluting them. We have been torturing and killing animals and birds for years.
The driving forces behind this loss include climate change, deforestation, habitat degradation, and hunting all caused by human activity.
Hunting has been a passion for some while a necessity for others. Animals are hunted and their body parts like tusks, horns are smuggled for recreational purposes.
Deforestation is leading to many animals losing their homes. At such times, these helpless animals reach human residential places in search of homes and food.
To protect themselves, humans kill these animals. Some animals are captured and tortured for medical purposes. Luckily, we humans are now realizing our mistake and taking steps to protect the earth.
Several plans have been developed to stop the abuse of the earth. The earth is precious and we need to save it from destruction.

The final episode, Cities, is the most illuminating in terms of the damaging effects of humanity's spread, but clearly this was not the intended purpose for this series.
